hello!
I'm so sorry if I'm spamming this place, but I cannot resist posting some things :D. look below and see really pretty photos courtesy of wanting :D
kimberley!
aliza! (looking like she wants to murder the score)
and doesn't everyone agree, the little ball ball thingy is very cute! :D
anyway, in case anyone is still feeling down or feeling like they screwed up for ensemble or anything, WE DIDN'T! Besides getting the second loudest round of applause, we got compliments from all over the place (I mean, blogs). Like this:
(okay it's not just ensemble, but good comments in general as well!)
"What really impressed me was how in time the entire band was. Almost all (heck, all) the players were staring at Mr. Oura throughout the concert, and the rhythm was so precise (which made Metro Gnome really impressive). It looked like something out of Fantasia (Google's your best friend), and that really rocked.
Technology was really cool. I mean, no conductor and the percussionists still kept in time, what with all the super fast solos. Who thought percussionists would be so professional?
...
But yeah, on the whole, Cadenza XI was good (heck, excellent). *standing ovation*" - from some RI guy
"Carmen... sigh. Good ol' days of 2006. I saw Hillary practicing Carmen's part I solo and that got me wondering. Didn't know they were playing Carmen for Cadenza. On the whole, they did a great job, probably better than us two years ago (oh yes that girl playing my tambourine part did a much better job than me!), and it brought back lots of memories too (like Army of the Nile did in A Tempo). A bit on the slow side though." (DEBORAH LOOK YAY! :D you played tambourine, right!)
"Technology was SUPERB! Me goes, "Why can't WE have perc ensembles like that"
As the saying goes, quality beats quantity, and our two perc ensembles doesn't hold a Sacred Candle to Technology (oh come on, William Tell was a joke, and I don't want to have anything to do with anything that starts with an S and ends with a E). So cool! And if Monument was monumental, then Technology really is technological. They have managed to evoke a sense of modern-ness in that ensemble. So yeah, there you have it." -from Ben
okay see, we played well as a band and as a section :D.
